2D Design and Color
This class focused more on basic design principles. All of these projects were done physically in one way or another. I had liked this class a little more than the others I had at the time. Details are available if you click on the image.

This project was about isometric shapes. We had to download a game where you got the red cube to the hole by navigating the isometric shape. Then we made our own level in the game and physically. Trying to keep all the diamond shapes the same size and glued in the shape of the puzzle I did proved to be a bit of a challenge. I think I could have glued the pieces on better, but this project was fun regardless.

We could only use lines for this project. We could make shapes using those lines, but we weren't supposed to have any symbols or drawings in it. This is because we were supposed to work more in abstraction. For the top one, I had wanted to do something similar to broken glass since it had been awhile since I'd drawn it. The bottom was just circles and stars, but opposites of each other.

This project focused on patterns. We started with doing a module, which was a quarter of the tile. To make the module, we cut out letters and glued them in the shape we wanted without cutting/trimming the letters themselves. After that, we scanned the module and turned it into a tile (top) and then a pattern/texture (bottom). Same as before, we were working in abstraction so no definitive shapes were supposed to be drawn.

This was the last project of abstraction. We could depict the Simpsons in any way as long as it was abstracted. I chose to do the family sitting on the couch and ghosts under it, kind of like they were both alive and dead. This was made with paper and string. It also reminds me of a decoration that would be in a kids room.

We could pick any picture we wanted, but only use four colors of the same hue for this assignment. After you had your image, you transferred it onto a canvas and painted it. I had chosen a skull planet (a skullanet if you will) since I like space. I chose purple for my hue since it fits with my room and is one of my favorite colors. I had to try to color match a few times since I didn't do this in one sitting.

For our final, we had to create a physical version of pixel art with painted, flat thumb tacks. We created the pixel art digitally first then recreated it. We could choose any picture as long as there were only 8-16 colors and it fit a color scheme. I chose to combine two of my favorite characters from different stories. They had already fit a split color scheme. I also used 16 colors and 2,304 thumb tacks.
