This is a collection of some of the drawings I did in my drawing class. You can click on the image to see it enlarged and for the description.
Project Drawings

This was the first pre-instructional drawing that I did. For my drawing class, we had to do four drawings before any real lesson/instruction. The first was just of a plant. I had never drew a plant before, so this was a first. I wasn't sure how to do the shading on the leaves, but I think I could do better now.

This is my favorite pre- instructional drawing that I did. We had to draw a scene of which I chose my roommate's closet. I knew a little about perspective, but I hadn't included it much before. I think this one looked the best out of the 4 pre-instructional drawings.

This was also a pre-instructional drawing that I had to do. For this one, we had to draw a chair. I chose to do the chair in my dorm.

This was the last pre-instructional drawing. We had to do a self-portrait. This was the first time I had tried to draw a person realistically. I knew a little bit about proportion prior to this drawing, but I had never actually tried practicing that knowledge.

For our first real project drawing, we could only use lines to draw a plant. We had to include a focal point, which I did by making the lines darker where I wanted the viewers' eyes to go.

For this drawing, I had to do a negative space drawing of a plant. To do this, I chose an area of a tree with just about no leaves and focused on drawing the shapes around the tree branches. After I had those shapes, I colored them in.
All of these drawings were done on an 18" by 24" piece of paper.
Homework

This was one of the first homework assignments that we had. We were able to pick any object to cross contour, which I chose my phone. I chose to make the 'outline' of the phone darker to give some depth. I also made the lines darker at the top, bottom, and part of the side in the middle since that's where my phone case is black. Most of the lines were drawn freehanded.

To introduce the value unit, we had to learn the six divisions of light. This was the drawing that we did along with the teacher.

This was the first assignment that we had to do when we were starting our value unit. We had to try to copy Charles White's "The Preacher." We could use any medium we wanted as long as we filled the whole page. I stuck with graphite since that's what I have and am most comfortable with.

As part of our homework, we have to do some observational drawings. Each is meant to be 20-30 minutes long. This is one of the better looking ones. For this one, we could pick our subject. I did a tissue box.

This was when we were learning the hatching technique. We could pick our subject. Since I like card games, I chose to do a card. I didn't do a lot of cross-hatching since the card I was drawing was light blue with the edge and middle being see-through.
All of these drawings were done in a 9" by 12" sketchbook.
